Lactobacillus Reuteri is a bacterial strain found in newborns and in a very small percentage of adults. MAGISNAT researchers, a group of scientists from the United States and Italy, conducted an in-depth study on individuals undergoing radiation therapy or chemotherapy, noting that only a small percentage of adults develop oral mucositis as a side effect. Through analysis of the oral microbiome in individuals who did not develop oral mucositis, the presence of Lactobacillus Reuteri was observed. Based on these findings, in vitro and in vivo studies were conducted using murine models to test the effectiveness of Lactobacillus Reuteri in treating oral mucositis, leading to the formulation of a patent.
