Prof. Stephen T. Connelly

Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco; Co-founder of Boutique Venture Partners a healthcare focused venture capital firm located in Palo Alto, California, and head of a health care consumer products company. He obtained a DDS from Columbia University in New York, completed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of California where he obtained an MD and a PhD in Craniofacial Sciences. He has special interests in oral cancer, temporomandibular joint surgery as well as chronic pain and is passionate about dietary influences on disease and personal health.


Prof. Peng Jin

is Professor and Chair in the Department of Human Genetics at the School of Medicine of Emory University (Atlanta). The research program in Prof. Jin’s laboratory focuses on understanding the unstable repeats and dynamic DNA/RNA modifications in the human genome and their roles in the pathogenesis of human diseases. He is the recipient of the Beckman Young Investigator Award, Basil O’Connor Scholar Research Award from March of Dimes, Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow in Neuroscience, NARSAD Independent Investigator Award, and Simons Investigator. He also serves as the Director of Emory Stephen T. Warren National Fragile X Research Center.


Dr. Matteo Bertelli

is the founder and CEO of the companies MAGI’S LAB (2006), MAGI EUREGIO (2012), and MAGISNAT (2022), focused on diagnosing, researching, treating rare genetic diseases with small natural molecules. He graduated in Medicine. He specialized in Medical Genetics and received a PhD in Medical Biotechnologies in 2008 at Siena University, with a thesis on Lesch-Nyhan syndrome in collaboration with Professor William Nyhan (UCSD) and Professor Massimo Pandolfo (ULB). His research activity was awarded with many prizes. He has written numerous articles and participated in the writing of scientific books.


Dr. Kevin Donato

is a researcher working with the MAGI group in Italy since 2021 and with MAGISNAT in the USA since 2022. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and is currently in the process of completing his Industrial PhD in Translational Medicine at the University of Milan. His current research focuses on the field of eating disorders, where he employs omics approaches to identify any altered functions within the human body. He is investigating natural molecules derived from the typical foods of the Mediterranean diet. He has actively contributed to the development of some articles and has also been involved in the creation of patents.


Prof. Karen L. Herbst

is Medical and Research Director, Total Lipedema Care Medical Director Lympha Press Beverly Hills, CA and Tucson. She is a board-certified endocrinologist and the Medical and Research Director at Total Lipedema Care in Beverly Hills. She serves as the Medical Director of Lympha Press. She completed her medical training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the University of Washington and has held academic positions at the University of California, San Diego and the University of Arizona. She has published extensively in the areas of testosterone and fat disease and has written a book on nutrition with her colleagues. She currently has collaborators in multiple countries to work towards effective treatment for fat disease.


Prof. Benedetto Falsini

Professor in the Institute of Ophthalmology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome, Italy). He is a specialist of the field of ophthalmology, currently serving as Confirmed Associate Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at Università Cattolica del S. Cuore, Rome. He held two postdoctoral positions in the U.S., at the departments of Ophthalmology at Washington University and at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, he also holds the position of Consultant Research Ophthalmologist at the Macula & Genoma Foundation, Roma, and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Macula & Genoma Foundation, New York.


Prof. Pietro Chiurazzi

Professor in the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario “A. Gemelli” IRCCS, UOC Genetica Medica, Rome, Italy. He graduated in Medicine in 1992 at the Catholic University (Rome) with an experimental thesis entitled “Molecular genetic study and diagnosis of the Fragile X syndrome”. In 1996 he became Specialist in Medical Genetics with a thesis entitled “Fragile X founder chromosomes in Italy” and obtained his Ph.D. in Genetics at the Erasmus University (Rotterdam) in 2001 with a thesis entitled “Origin and reactivation of the fragile X gene”. He is Associate Professor of Medical Genetics at the Institute of Genomic Medicine of the Catholic University School of Medicine, Rome since November 2005.
